Known for its rich nutritional profile, Barseem is highly sought after as animal feed, especially for dairy cattle, due to its high protein, fiber, and mineral content. The plant typically reaches a height of 30-60 cm and produces small, round, pink or white flowers that form in clusters. The leaves are trifoliate (three leaflets) and have a soft, hairy texture. The plant’s roots can grow deep into the soil, helping it to withstand dry conditions and improve soil fertility through nitrogen fixation. Barseem is known for its excellent forage quality and is often grown as a rotational crop to enhance soil health. It is a valuable source of vitamins, minerals, and proteins for livestock, and is often harvested multiple times a year.
